But, How to Know Thyself?

— Sushmita

...ways are many, and any could meld one with that unique self that one is...guiding one to one’s self, and thus know, that that is one’s true self.... But, till is, understandable is the query...

Well, this, inevitably, is the query, with exasperation of desperation, when, one is badgered by the contents of one’s life, and the invocation, the article in the issue before last, “Mantra of Life: Know Thyself and BE Thyself,” fans further the fire of despair! Yet, the very despair is the sign of repairs, on its way.... Trust that! As we trust, so we create, as every manifestation is that of a belief—yes, that of disbelief, too. Every manifestation is resonance, even if the appearance is dissonant, as matter is energy, materialized....

Thus, any thought, a unique energy vibration, courted, manifests the courtship! And this is our empowerment, too: Choice of thought, and hence, change, is in our hands, life, ever affirming....

Energy conserves through transformation, rendering the very process of life, self-sustaining, progressive, transformative, which we know by the name of “evolution”—evolution, never deemed regressive. But life, though ever-conserving, is never conservative! Answers are thus provided, always, provided the questions are asked, life’s attention undivided towards the purpose of life...in, as and through us, as unique parts, complete in ourselves, experiencing, acknowledging and realizing our completion.... And answers are received in the sublime moments of receptivity, clarity, with anything capable of presenting that answer...no norms and conventions required to receive the same. It is the openness to accept the answers, their truth, openness to the feeling of truth, within, that does it all, receiving the conveyed, and when are received, realized are the divine synchronicities, none a chance occurrence but a natural, divine recurrence: Knocking of our truth of being—on the conscious mind—to allow it in.

So it has happened with me, and share with gratitude and humility, owning full responsibility: All was crafted by me—without any impositions from peers—self-inflicted, by self-ignorance, carried away by the logic-bound beliefs, till that mindless floating was deviated, by certain incidents, which oriented me towards the “real me.” Yet, all that happened, in-between, all, have been enriching...experiences off studying and teaching organic chemistry, which served as the first window fostering the queries: “Why I am the way I am?” and, “Why is life the way it is?”

Eternal gratitude to God is one with gratitude for the appearance of Conversations with God by Neale Donald Walsch, in October 2010...and only then, did I realize: There is a “me,” the real, vaster than the one eyes see....

So yes...how to know thyself? Otherwise, how can thou be thyself?

First and foremost, accept the prick of discontent seeking attention—not the materialistic discontent, but something beyond...as is felt even in the presence of material affluence, academic brilliance, overflowing qualifications. The quality of this discontent is “existential”...difficult to pinpoint, but undeniable, uncontainable its insistence.

Once accepted, earnestly go within, seeking the answers, ardently, as therein lies everything, and is presented, without. But, go in, with openness, as only when you open up, fully, you receive fully, as you realize fully, without the filter of bias. Feel the truth, of resonance...the uncanny feeling, that, “this is it,” yet, which is not persisted with, ignored, thinking, “it cannot be, as how can it be, defies as it the conventions...norms...” indoctrinated with the enculturation, as one is....

Self-reliance, solely, is the way, instead of externalizing the truth of experiencing. Yet, not knowing, not clear about one’s self—and the purpose of life, thus—peers, near and dear ones are considered the all-knower and followed, though lamented, too, as dissonance is felt, the truth, of being, unique of all.

The connection with one’s essence of being, truth, cannot be experienced dictated by peers, conventions... It is an experience to be experienced, feeling to be felt.... Truly.... Thus, acknowledged is Neale Donald Walsch’s realization: Knowing and experiencing God, is the sole experience that solves all issues...—be it personal, professional, intellectual, behavioral, spiritual...—as it decides our very ways of being. Yet, externalizing God and hence, experience of oneness with It, confining It to norms...rituals, ignoring the truth of experiences...we obstruct the very thing we intrinsically strive for.... It cannot be confined in any way.... When realized, relished are the transcendental ways of life, as is experienced transcendence, one’s essence, life thriving through the unprecedented....

But unaware, professions and ways of being-living are chosen, as is the “consensus thinking,” choosing not to give credence to the sensations within (lest called “abnormal”), crying out.... We are all unique, and our ways of “connecting,” too, are unique. Thus, Einstein observed: “Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid.”

Each one of us has one “activity” that leads to a state of being of complete immersion, in the process, in the act, one with being: writing...singing...painting...anything.... It is that experience of bliss...healing comprehensive, when one seeks none and nothing else... That, is, one’s connection, with the Divine—essence of being—experienced. To know, “what” it is, if you know not already, you could take up journaling, baring everything that surges for release...and as are released, released is the ignorance as well as your awareness of your self, getting to know thyself, thus, and thus, on way to being thyself!

In trying to “be” the best, life deemed and experienced as a “test,” redeemed is immense unrest...with heavy chest heaving, till is realized, all is and are unique, and best, none better than the rest, yet, bettering the best, their own selves—recognized, accepted—realizing the same...evolving consciously, riding the crest of oneness with the Divine.

Nothing goes to waste, when we taste ourselves, life, no longer considered a test or a contest....

Let your vocation, passion and profession merge... As thus, you emerge as your oneness with the Divine, life’s purpose, served.... Yes, truth might appear blasphemous to the un-awakened mind, but remember, it is your life, and your connection with the Divine, eternal, is for you to feel...and ways and means are for you to explore, experience, embrace... Matters, solely, your being true to your truth, nothing else.... As to how, it would be accepted, well, George Bernard Shaw might be of help, as he observes: “All great truths begin as blasphemies.”

Dissolves all perturbations, the knowing: Who, what God is, and how can one connect with and realize It.... The percussion of unconditional love that It is...All That There Is...as is acknowledged within, in, as and through those ways of being, activities, life becomes a cushion, the appearances, contrary, seen through as illusory, none and nothing, external, sought for confirmation, the sole confirmation, essential, received in the resonance felt within, in consonance with one’s essence of being....

It is about “making” a life, and not just a living, as, when we “make” a life, we live it to the full, and when we leave the ephemeral form, behind and forever, it is, with eternal bliss that kisses eternity with its eternal divine imprint, unique!
