Thoughts do create our World

— Urvashi Shetty

It’s been a fascinating process to witness the steady awakening of the world to the fact that the, ‘Thoughts Create our World’. You may say that’s not true, as it’s been known and exhibited for generations. However, ‘being aware of something’ is different to ‘perceiving’ it, which is further very different from ‘experiencing’ it and ‘embodying’ it in one’s life. The present generation does not need to only rely on research by Scientists such as Dr Masaru Emoto of Japan and his phenomenal research on effects of thoughts on Water Crystals, or be only convinced by extraordinary life stories of individuals like Flight Pursuer Neerja Bhanot or Gymnast Dipa Karmakar; each of us can share proof of how valuable and powerful thoughts are because our minds are the most amazing reservoirs of creative, logical, compassionate and powerful energy. The greatest drawback has been that we haven’t invested sufficient time to refine and utilize this power in the most beneficial way. Fortunately, time is now teaching us to honour our own precious asset.

We are blessed to be living in an era where two indomitable forces: Science (Testable Understanding) and Spirituality (Thinking Beyond the Materialistic World) are our greatest Teachers! They are the embodiment of everything we need to live a fulfilling, progressive and successful life. Though they are ultra-powerful themselves, they are in fact a manifestation of the same Thought Power. It is time we the Creators get back to basics, and learn how to use both reigning powers in tandem.

Whether it’s destruction and depletion of natural resources, or the corruptive practices of professionals in medicine/innovation or those in power and status, whether it’s senseless bombings and execution of people within and against countries, or the unintelligible preference of additive modern technology over the emotional/intellectual health of the younger generations, whether it’s the total collapse of human faculties and relationships in the hands of fast-speed living… all the disturbing facets of life are clouded by this refusal to respect and imbibe Science and Spirituality equally.

On the other side is the fact that all achievements and attainments in life again rise from harmonizing Science and Spirituality: An architect comes up astutely with the design of a new structure; the mind needs to be completely free from waste and negativity, completely silent and concentrated for the powers of the mind to be harnessed.

A charismatic leader, Mahatma Gandhi, took the vow of complete purity and ahimsa (or non-violence), which served as the power behind getting our country liberated from foreign rule.

Living legend, Pele, who lived through a poverty-stricken childhood in Brazil, surpassed all records to become the most amazing footballer of all times through the power of determination. The gifts of Jesus Christ were the power of love and capacity to tolerate, for which he is remembered and respected by more than 220 crore people.

King Vikramaditya, known for his wisdom, bravery and big-heartedness, was the first king to begin worship of the bodiless form of Almighty Authority by building the first Jyotirlingam shrine the Somnath temple in Gujarat. He was followed by millions all over India who not only worship the Incorporeal Being, but became an inspiration to those who respect the Divine Being as a non-physical/subtle point of supreme energy.

Pythagoras, Greek philosopher and one of the oldest mathematicians of our times, led the way by inventing the famous Pythagoras's Theorem by diving into the depths of ancient Greek wisdom and reflecting internally.

All of the above and many other high-level individuals had a ‘supra-consciousness’, implying something above the ordinary consciousness which helped them shape their lives and destiny, and made them heroines and heroes to be remembered for generations to come.

As established above, science and spirituality influence everything happening in the world, however to be able to utilize them completely, we have to maintain a balance. Gone are the days when Science and Spirituality rejected each other or challenged the value of each one’s existence, or contribution to society. For those who still choose to deny the impactful synergy they constitute, please do speculate on the following:

“To undertake scientific investigation, you have to start with an idea, with some intuition about what to look into and where you might find answers. Science, in other words, begets creativity. Creativity and intuition are among those mysteries of consciousness that link the everyday, analytic mind to holistic insights of the spiritual dimension.” (Larry Culfiford, Spiritual Wisdom for Secular Times, 2014)

On 27 May 2016, President of USA, Mr Barack Obama shared the following after paying his respects at Japan’s Hiroshima Peace Memorial: “71 years ago, on a bright, cloudless morning, death fell from the sky and the world was changed. A flash of light and a wall of fire destroyed a city and demonstrated that mankind possessed the means to destroy itself…

“The World War that reached its brutal end in Hiroshima and Nagasaki was fought among the wealthiest and most powerful of nations… Their thinkers had advanced ideas of justice, harmony and truth. Yet, war grew out of the same base instinct for domination or conquest that had caused conflicts among the simplest tribes…

“Every great religion promises a pathway to love, peace and righteousness, and yet no religion has been spared from believers who have claimed their faith as a license to kill…

“Science allows us to communicate across the seas and fly above the clouds; to cure disease and understand the cosmos. But those same discoveries can be turned into ever-more efficient killing machines... Scientific revolution that led to the splitting of an atom requires a moral revolution, as well.”

In a fragmented world such as ours, everyone understands the need to rectify the imbalances we see in the five elements, personal relationships, and one’s own development. Let us work with the proposition that nothing is possible with scientific empowerment alone. Spiritual Empowerment (or empowerment of one’s thought processes through inculcation of values, positivity and goodness) is required to support Scientific Empowerment, so as to firmly steer it on the right track.

Both these fascinating realms of life, Science and Spirituality, stem from a seemingly minute yet compact force: atom and atma (spirit, soul) respectively. Channeling of this energy of every human soul occurs through its thoughts; thoughts are the seeds planted by oneself daily on the field of life; they determine our attitude, words, behaviour, actions and character. Are we willing to supply the same amount of time and energy on perfecting this inner machinery, as we have done to understand the ‘atom’ over centuries?

The genius, Albert Einstein, put it beautifully when he said, “We shall require a substantially new manner of thinking if mankind is to survive”. What an ab-normal, out-of-the-box idea! We hold the future not in our hands but in our thinking… Let’s unite our thoughts to create a magical new world.
