We are shaped by our thoughts; we become what we think. When the mind is pure, joy follows like a shadow that never leaves.
— Buddha

Wisdom is the final stage to guide us to become meditative and to create a mental status of full bliss for Nirvana. Previous month we discussed what wisdom is. Now let us talk about meditation. Meditation:

The Upanishad says:-
‘Mamaha Eva Manushyanam,
Karanam Bandha Mokshyoho.’
Your mind (both conscious mind and sub-conscious mind) is everything. It is the whole result of life.

• Your mind is your bondage.
• It is your freedom too, if you properly manage.
• It is intelligent, if properly trained.
• It destroys you if wrongly used
• If it is awakened, the heaven is with you.
• If it is going to act as your master and if you act as it leads, your life is hell.
• If you can command it and use it as your servant, it is the best one.
• You can become a genius or a stupid according to your mental conditioning. • Meditation makes your mind a supreme power and makes you to
“Digest Divinity Daywise”.

According to the Upanishads, your mind is everything for you. If your mind is directed in the right direction, you can be genius. To become a genius you have to create proper vibrations in your mind. Those vibrations are caused in your mind in silence only. And silence is meditation.

The scientists estimated that a man has 60,000 thoughts in a day. Out of them only 5 or 6 thoughts are useful. That means about 95% of mind power is simply wasted, since we are able to use only 4 or 5 percent of mind power. A genius may use a little bit more percentage of mind power.

The human brain contains 100 billion neurons. Each neuron has about 1000 connections with other neurons. Each of such connection fires 200 times per second, resulting in 20000 trillion fires per second.

All this consumes a good amount of energy. Then question comes “How to save energy?”

If we are able to reduce at least a few unnecessary thoughts, a good amount of energy can be saved. It will enable us to enhance “mental power”. It is possible, by practising silence or meditating a little time that thoughts can be reduced and energy can be saved. When useless thoughts are reduced, the quality of useful thoughts can be improved. If useful thoughts can be held for a little more longer time, they become creative and powerful. Naturally creativity and power of mind will bring quality in life. The quality of life brings eternal bliss and improves the quality of character and thereby the quantity of dimensional power is manifold in you.

If it is observed, we can realize that, the Creator created everything out of “silence”. Silence is basically vibrations with the highest frequency. The spiritual expression comes from “nothing” as your life comes from “nothing” into “something”. Vibrations are transferred only in a state of “non-doing” and only in a state of “silence”, that is sitting in the seat of meditation. That is why Rishis and spiritually evolved people meditate. Even if you sit in the presence of such people, there a difference evolves into your being.

Some people meditate in life. For some, life itself is a meditation.

Some people meditate for hours together and some more people even meditate years together. Some people may sit in meditation and they go on meditating to achieve their goal. Generally this kind of people feel that their life is only for meditation. However, some feel that life itself is a meditation. It means whatever they do in their life they do it with meditative outlook. Even when they are working, their mind is set in meditative mood.

When one coordinates the resources in a certain order to achieve a specific function it is called work. Similarly mind directed in a certain order, is thinking. Mobilizing the tongue in a certain order is speech. Coordinating the body, mind and emotion in a certain order is action. Coordinating action to serve a definite objective is work.

God creates many resources and gives many gifts and the work we create from those resources and gifts, is our creation. It means God has given us resources and we perform our action utilizing those resources and we call it as work. The people who think that life itself is meditation, they pray God “I shall no more pray you in words nor perform any rituals. I will not offer you flowers or fruits. However, all the work I do from now on, will be my offering unto you, Lord, because I offer you nothing but my work.”

In our next article we will go into more details about the people who feel that life itself is a meditation.
