YOU ARE YOUR MIND – IX

—M N Raju

We are shaped by our thoughts; we become what we think. When the mind is pure, joy follows like a shadow that never leaves.
—Buddha

It has already been discussed at length in the previous articles regarding the mysterious body. Still it is continued since the story of the body needs some more details. How is the body formed? How does it grow? What does it need? Why does it need care? How is it linked with the mind and the soul? Among Body, Mind and Soul which is more important? And many more questions are to be answered.

The Secrets of Oceans stand as a Question.
The Secrets of Universe stand as a Question.
The Secrets of Sun stand as a Question.
The Secrets of God stand as a Question.
The Secrets of Body too stand as a Question.
And the Question remains as a question.

The man needs better body for a better mind and finally for the best soul.

The scientist may replace a human mind with a computer. The scientist may produce a robot to work like a man or to work better than a man. But is it possible to create a cell? Can any scientist dream to prepare digestive system like that of a man or an animal? It is simply impossible! – impossible! impossible!!!.

There are still more wonders about the cell. What are they? How does a single cell get into a multiplied unit of a whole body? How do all cells work and function together in the body? How does life come to each cell? How does a cell die? And many … many… wonders are there around the cell. What is a gene? What is DNA? All these questions need comprehensive and minute details. We are going to know about three more that are the basic and foundation items for the human body or any living unit. They are - Cell, DNA and Gene.

Cell: We had already discussed the general characteristics of cells. Here we try to know more scientific characteristics, not very deeply but in general.

• It is the smallest biological unit
• It grows, moves, communicates, works, eats, thinks-what not, everything what you can do.
• The cells are of countless variety.
• They are of various sizes and shapes.
• A single cell multiplies into billions of cells.
• They do all the functions needed to a living body.

DNA:- (Deoxyribonucleic Acid) • It is the chemical unit of heredity.
• It is the blue – print got from the parents.
• It is the chief material of the chromosomes found in every living cell.
• A change in the DNA code affects characteristics of a cell.
• The complete genetic information about a cell is stored in its DNA.

GENE:-
• It is the fundamental unit of heredity.
• It is ultramicroscopic in size
• Thousands of genes are there in every cell.
• They create enzymes and in turn certain chemical reactions happen to determine growth and development.
• Cell development is also affected by the working of the genes.
• Though the same genes are there in all cells in the body, the cells develop into different structures.
• The gene consists DNA.
• The Cell consists both DNA and Gene.

Therefore, it is the cell that does all the magic in our body. The original one cell multiplies into trillions of cells in the course of your life..

Before Birth:- The unborn child gets all its required food etc., from the mother through its umbilical cord. The umbilical cord is about 50 to 60 cm. long. When the baby is born, the umbilical cord is cut and the navel mark remains permanently on the body. In the womb the umbilical card forms a vital link between the mother and the growing infant.

The growing foetus, develops from the single cell organism into a multi-cell organism. In the growth process, the foetus gets all the five elements (Pancha Boothas) from the mother through umbilical card.

As a seed contains all the structure of a big tree, each cell contains all the structure of a fully grown body. All living beings undergo the same process.
