Yes I can and I will

— Mr.Subrahmanian

Opportunity knocks once; Snatch it, "I can and I will".
Challenge, small or big; Face it, "I can and I will".
As it's God's 'Will'.

If bigger things don't happen, let me look for happiness in the small moments, the small occasions, coming by.

Why should I keep waiting for bigger moments? What if they are far away? Will I keep feeling unhappy until then? Believing in myself, feeling strong, never giving up - no matter what the circumstances are, have made me feel I'm a champion and overcome the dreaded obstacles. He's a champion, who takes failure as a learning opportunity. Hence let me take in all I can, and run with it. That's exactly the secret of my success. I never run after people who never care for me, who don't give a damn about what I feel for them and keep hurting me. Are such people so important to me? Let me just love myself and the people who really-really care for me.

Let me get a grip on my feelings, be brave to tell the heart: "I am not gonna lose, I'll win with all these pains and sorrows". Just let me have a minute and see what I'm capable of doing. I'm my best; won't ever ever give up.
Every test in my life can be bitter or better,
Every problem may come to make or break me,
The choice is mine whether I become victim or victorious.

Let me judge each day not by the harvest I reap but by the seeds that I plant.
Let my solid persistence change failure into extraordinary achievement.
Let me see something positive even in bad situations. Even a stopped clock shows correct time twice a day.

Having lost my father early in life (I was just four), it was indeed a dream to be able to gain a degree, secure a decent job, earn reasonably and support myself and my mother - hopefully a wife (someday) and kids too!

Well wishers, I had many, and in their prayers they wished that I will be well employed, support my mother, have a family, have a own home and grow just like everyone else - and grow old ... as well! One may take such things for granted. But it was a dream for me! Success is like a tip of the tail. If a dog runs to catch the tail. It has to keep running forever. Once it walks in its own style, the tail will follow! I have learnt life with my own rules.

Let me strive for a Useful and enjoyable old age too! No matter how good one's intentions are, world judges only his presentation. No matter how good his presentations are, God judges only his intentions.

The story of 'Elephant Rope'. A man is passing an elephant, he suddenly stops, confused by the fact that a huge creature is being held by only a small rope tied to the front leg. No chains, no cages. It is obvious that the elephant could, at anytime, break away from its bonds, but for some reason, it does not! He sees the trainer and asks why it just stands there and takes no attempt to get away. “Well,” trainer says, “when it was very young and much smaller I used the same size rope to tie it and, at that age, it was enough to hold. As it grew up, it was conditioned to believe it cannot break away, believing the rope can still hold it, so it never tries to free.”

Like the elephant, how many of us go through life hanging onto a belief that we cannot do something, simply because we failed at it once before? Failure is part of learning; I would never give up my struggles in life!

Much against the dream of almost every 20th century Indian parent, I dreamt differently, enabled my son acquire a degree in Electronics, his choice. He turned an entreprenuar, ran an IT firm, in Mumbai, with no support whatsoever from me! He's now Chief Scientist, with Oracle, at Silicon Valley, in USA, the land of braves and opportunity. When he arrived in USA, it was as if a dream had come true. Here at last he found a place where I always wanted him to be, with unfettered freedom to continue his research. He never felt that he would be staying there for long!

No one earlier, no one in future - I would love to be absoultely unique! Let me enjoy that uniqueness. Should I have to pretend in order to seem more like someone else? I am not meant to be like someone else. I do not have to lie to conceal the parts of you that are not like what you see in anyone else. I'm meant to be different. Nowhere in the world will the same things be going on in anyone’s mind, soul and spirit as are going on in me right now.
If I do not exist, there would be a hole in creation, a gap in history, why, something missing from the plan for humankind! Let me 'Treasure my uniqueness'. It is a gift given only to me, sure. Let me enjoy and share it now!

The few people who laugh at all the same things I do, don’t sneeze the way I do. No one prays about exactly the same concerns as I do. No one is loved by the same combination of people that love me – No One! No one can reach out to others in the same way that I can and do; can converse and interact like me; convey and exchange words and sentences with meanings. No one can be as cheerful and lighthearted and joyous like me. No one can smile as I do; can bring the whole unique impact of me to other human beings, as vouched by Dignity Foundation, Seniors' NGO in India.

Let me share my uniqueness. Let it be free to flow out among my family and friends and people I meet in the rush and clutter of living wherever I do. It's that gift given me to enjoy and share. Let me give myself away! See it! Receive it! Let it tickle you! Let it inform you and nudge you and inspire you! YOU TOO ARE UNIQUE!

Me as Physics Teacher: Isaac Newton was sitting under a tree when an apple fell on his head; he discovered gravity. Isn’t that wonderful?
Student: Yes sir, if he had been sitting in class looking at books like us, he wouldn’t have discovered anything.
